A piece of legislation making its way through the House of Delegates could force car insurers to alter how they calculate rates, potentially easing bills for customers who live on the outskirts of Baltimore.
Wednesday Del. Emmett Burns pitched a bill to the House Economic Matters Committee that would prevent insurers from charging rates by ZIP code when the postal designation straddles county lines.
It is my belief ZIP codes are used for delivering mail and shouldn't be used for determining insurance rates, the Baltimore County Democrat said. LINK.
