Car Insurance Companies May Have to Cover Homes in Florida

Some insurance companies may have to take the good with the bad.

Companies that sell property insurance in other states must sell it in Florida if they want to offer car insurance here, state lawmakers agreed Friday.

The agreement was one of a handful Senate and House members worked out as they culled a number of ideas aimed at fixing Florida’s insurance woes. Legislators also agreed on proposals to allow some homeowners — mostly those who own their homes outright — to go without wind coverage. LINK.
